PISTOL YOUNGAssociation Director's Message

BSBA Board, Advisors, Members and Guests, I want everyone to know that this decision was one of the hardest the BSBA has ever made. I said back earlier this year that I would be stepping down as the BSBA Association Director. Along with me was another 3 individuals that have been involved for as many as 19 years in management roles. They are at their end as well. The management of the association takes an extreme amount of time on a individuals part. Planning 5-6 3D events, 4-5 expo shows, Spring Fling banquet, NASP tournament manpower support, and just personal meetings with political interest throughout the year. This is done 100% by volunteers. There are over 30,000 bowhunters in this state with less than 2000 being BSBA members. Out of that 2000 members less than 50 are actively involved throughout the year. I've had to personally cancel 2 events because of lack of manpower to work these events. It's not fair to the events to plan on us being there then we have to cancel at the last minute. The BSBA was formed on a set of hunting morals, and these veiws aren't the same for most people today. Due to various personal reasons there was no one to assume the 4 management positions that were becoming vacant. Membership over the last few years has declined drastically. Vendors, members, etc are struggling financially and BSBA support isn't a priority. We understand these issues. The decision was made to dissolve the BSBA effective 12/31/11. The BSBA is financially strong and we want to be able to support as many programs in state and out as we can in closing. The current magazine being printed will be the final printing. I made it a point to get as many hunting articles and kill pictures of you guys and gals in there as I could. In our bylaws all assets will got to non-profit 501 organizations. Decisions are being made by the board as we speak as to the distribution of BSBA assets. If you signed up as a regular member within the last 12 months your membership will be refunded. If you signed up as a life member or paid installments towards a lifetime membership it will be refunded. There will be no more BSBA functions after 12/31/11. The biggest regret that we have is not seeing all the people at the events. We look forward to seeing everyone from time to time, and this will be missed. Myself and Angie have watched many kids grow up over the last 13 years within shooting distance of a target. We've made many friends that if it wasn't for archery we probably never would have met. In closing, Again I still believe in what the BSBA was built on, and will truly miss being apart of an association that has done so much for the bowhunters of this state for the last 19 plus years. Thanks for everything, Pistol Young BSBA Life Member

Thanks again for your support,
Pistol Young
