In early
1992, a group of dedicated bowhunters founded the Bayou State Bowhunters
Association. These bowhunters felt that all Louisiana Bowhunters
should join together to foster, expand, strengthen and develop the
sport of bowhunting and bowfishing.
Coordinate and cooperate with State and Federal wildlife and
conservation agencies in securing better hunting seasons and privileges
for bowhunters.
To cooperate with all local, state and federal conservation organizations
in furthering the propagation of wild game; the acquisition of
more wildlife habitats and the progressive improvement of game
conservation.
To act as a coordinating organization for the statewide bowhunting
activities through affiliation with the Louisiana Wildlife Federation.
To conduct a continuous educational program designed to acquaint
the bow and its uses as a practical and humane weapon, suitable
under proper regulations for the hunting of all game animals, fish
and birds.

Your membership in the BSBA includes
membership in the Louisiana Wildlife Federation, a subscription
to Louisiana Out-Of-Doors and The Louisiana Bowhunter Magazine
published quarterly for the purpose of keeping members up-to-date
on bowhunting and "3-D" Tournament activities in the
State.
Bowhunting now faces its biggest
challenge -- the survival of our sport. The anti-hunting and animal
rights movements must be met head-on by better financed and better
educated sportsman organizations in the State -- that organization

our best to represent your rights and privileges. In addition, we
ask you to spread the word to your Bowhunting friends and encourage
them to join our effort.

Successful pursuit of statewide Archery Season extension through
January 31st.
Led successful defeat of Legislative Action that would have
allowed crossbows during regular archery season for able bodied
sportsmen.
$2,500 for use by Bayou Cocodrie NWR (Primitive Weapons Only)
to surface parking lot for sportsmen and conservationists.
$500 to sponsor Youth Journalism Contest for Louisiana Outdoor
Writers Association.
Contributions to LDWF for Reforestation.
Contributions to Operation Game Thief.
Purchase of radio telemetry collars for BSBA initiated Adopt-A-Bear
project.
$2,587 contribution, part of which was made possible by matching
grant monies by Entergy’s Environmental Matching Grant Program
for Bottomland Hardwood Reforestation to D’Arbonne NWR.
Co-Sponsor purchase of 70,000 pocket size hunting regulations
brochure of LDWF.
Raised $4,106 for Sherburne WMA. Monies used for radio-telemetry
equipment for work on a pilot turkey study.
Raised $2,806 for Loggy Bayou WMA. Monies used to upgrade parking
facilities and other projects.
$337 donation to U.S. Fish & Wildlife for special project.
$1,915 donation to Tensas River Refuge Association for Educational
Programs. (Expansion of boardwalk and photo blinds for public use).
Volunteer Assistance with planting of 23,000 hardwood seedlings
as part for LDWF Hardwood Reforestation Program on Bayou Pierre
WMA.
Five (5) sets of Conservation videos for state-wide use. Supplement
to studies in the Biological and Environmental Sciences.
Joint project with the Jefferson Technical Institute to build
several deer check station weighing poles for use throughout the
State.
Sponsor Archery demonstrations and youth shoots at all Hunting
and Fishing Day sites across State (Annually).
Sponsor Archery event at State Hunter Youth Challenge. Check
Station assistance for Federal and State Wildlife Management Areas
with their either sex lottery gun hunts for deer.
