A Presentation by " Guest Speaker will be Kelly Purkey ( Refuge Manager Tensas NWR )"

Spring Fling – February, 2011 Kelly Purkey, Refuge Manager Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge(NWR), Tallulah, Louisiana Kelly Purkey was born and raised in southeast Louisiana. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife and Fisheries, and a Master of Science degree in Wildlife Management from Louisiana State University. Kelly has spent 14 years with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS), of which the last 3.5 years as the Refuge Manager at the Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge (NWR), Tallulah, LA. Kelly’s job, along with her staff, is to manage 80,000 acres of bottomland hardwood forest for “wildlife first.” Prior to moving back to Louisiana, Kelly spent 2.5 years at the USFWS southeastern regional office in Atlanta, GA. Kelly began her career in the marshes of southwest Louisiana, at the Sabine NWR in Hackberry, LA. She spends most of her free time chasing and enjoying her 2 kids, Ashley and Matthew, along with keeping up with husband Coy and big yellow lab, Sam. And if any spare time remains, Kelly enjoys gardening, hunting, fishing, and bird watching.
